Caverion wins a EUR 11.5 million wastewater treatment plant project in Norway

Caverion has signed an agreement with the Municipality of Oslo, Norway to deliver technical solutions of Heating & Sanitation, and Ventilation for the expansion of a wastewater treatment plant in Oslo. The value of the contract is approximately EUR 11.5 million.

The wastewater treatment plant cleans 40 percent of the municipal waste water in Oslo. However, the plant is currently overloaded and unable to meet new environmental requirements.

“The project is named ‘Oslo’s biggest environmental project’. With the expansion, modern technology will give positive environmental impact by stopping polluted water entering the fjords. The modernisation will also ensure greater energy efficiency, which will warrant both financial and environmental benefits,” says Knut Gaaserud, Executive Vice President & CEO of Caverion Norway.

When the treatment plant was built in 2001, it was designed for 270,000 people. Now the plant cleans wastewater for 300,000 persons. The capacity of the plant will be increased to handle wastewater from 500,000 people, which is the expected population for the plants service area for the year 2040.

“The project takes place while the wastewater treatment plant is in operation. This requires a solid knowledge of building technologies and their integration to ensure efficient project execution and meeting the set time schedule. We want to ensure excellent customer experience during all phases of the project,” Gaaserud adds.

Caverion’s work starts in February 2018 and will be completed by May 2020.
