The first Hack the Office event in the Nordic property sector takes place in November in Finland

Finland’s leading startup operator HUB13 will partner with Caverion and Granlund to organise the first Hack the Office event in the Nordic property sector on 11–13 November in Finland. Hack the Office is a 48-hour international innovation workshop for software industry experts. Hack the Office will bring the developer community together to accelerate the automation of smart office buildings and increase their value. The most innovative ideas will receive awards at Slush.

Hack the Office will elevate office properties to the next level: Caverion, Granlund and the 50 international developers participating in the hackathon will spend 48 hours at HUB13 in Kaisaniemi in central Helsinki. The event’s most accomplished teams will receive awards at Slush 2016.

“Office buildings hide a great deal of data that has not yet been fully utilised,” says Ola Sundell, CEO at HUB13 and the producer of the event. “First, there was the Internet of Things. Hack the Office will create a foundation for building the leading Internet of Buildings ecosystem in Finland. The assumption is that this can lead to considerable cost savings and an improved customer experience. It is important to bring together the various parties involved in the management of business premises,” Sundell continues.

Properties are becoming automated

Properties are assets of great significance in society. Caverion wants to play a part in expediting the continuous development of the property sector as a whole.

“We have engaged in extensive development in the area of property automation. In improving energy efficiency, for example, our systematic efforts through the years have produced excellent results for our customers,” says Ville Tamminen, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Caverion.

The community-driven approach is part of the development of knowledge. Digitalisation is presenting entirely new opportunities for businesses: small and agile entities can identify development areas that are different from those of large and stable operators.

Join us in development

Hack the Office will bring together the international programming and development community for an overnight event that is sure to provide an intensive property sector experience for all participants. Registration is free of charge for agile operators who want to achieve recognition as developers of intelligent properties. The winning ideas from the hackathon will be announced at Slush which takes place 30 November-1 December, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.
