Caverion provides Energy Performance Contracting for Moss municipal property company in Norway

Caverion has signed a contract with the Norwegian municipality of Moss for the delivery of Managed Life Cycle services. The delivery is carried out in the form of Energy Performance Contracting (EPC), in which Caverion analyses the municipality’s property stock and implements measures to reduce its energy consumption and environmental impact. The value of the agreement will not be disclosed.

The contract covers 34 public buildings in Moss municipality with a total floor area of approximately 91,000 m2. The aim is to reduce the energy consumption of these properties by 45% through upgrading, modernising and optimising the building systems. The project covers the technical disciplines of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and automation.

The first of three phases starts in June 2015, and maps how the municipality can reduce its energy consumption. It is the Moss municipal property company’s intention to proceed with phases two and three. In phase two the upgrading of the building systems will commence, and in phase three the 5-year-long optimisation phase will ensure that the energy use is followed up to guarantee energy savings agreed in the contract.

For all three phases, the Moss municipal property company will invest EUR 4.5 million, which will be paid back to the municipality in the form of reduced energy costs within approximately 8 years.

“We are proud to be able to contribute to minimising environmental impact, and to have been entrusted with helping Moss municipality to implement measures to modernise their public buildings into energy-efficient buildings,” says Knut Gaaserud, Executive Vice President & CEO, Division Norway

Moss municipal property company belongs to Caverion’s Public Sector client segment.
